Honeycomb Core Supplier Guide for Packaging
How to source honeycomb paper core from China: cell size, thickness, facing options, compression targets, cutting tolerances, and RFQ fields for protective packaging panels.
Quick answer
Source honeycomb core by locking cell size, core thickness, facing grade, and compression or flat-crush expectations for the panel’s job. Core-only RFQs differ from faced honeycomb board RFQs—state which you need.
Core vs faced board
Core is the hexagonal paper structure; faced boards add liners for handling and print/abrasion control. Furniture and appliance programs often need faced panels; some engineered blocks use raw core. Do not compare “core price” to “board price” blindly.
Cell size and thickness
Smaller cells can feel stiffer at a given thickness; taller cores raise compression capacity and cube. Ask for manufacturing tolerances on thickness and density. Humidity changes performance—note climate.
Adhesive and facing quality
Bond between core and faces drives delamination risk. Request recommended adhesives and facing papers. Edge sealing or framing may be needed for dusty or abrasive lanes.
Cutting and CNC realities
CNC, saw, or die-cut tolerances affect insert fit. Share drawings with critical faces. Dust and edge fuzz matter for electronics cosmetics—approve samples for cleanliness.
RFQ fields
Cell size; core thickness; faced or raw
Facing grade; panel L×W tolerances
Compression/flat-crush targets
Monthly volume; sample panels
Incoterms; moisture packing
