What inner packaging should export buyers spec besides “foam”?
Name the family: EVA/EPE inserts, air-column bags, molded pulp, or honeycomb pads. Each has different tooling, MOQ, and recyclability. A photo of foam is not an RFQ.
When should I switch from EPE to air columns or pulp?
Air columns suit bottles and electronics kits that ship inflated at pack-out. Molded pulp suits branded unboxing and plastic-reduction goals. EPE/EVA still wins on tight cavities and repeated fit. Trial drop on the real SKU.
How do I spec EVA or EPE inserts?
Freeze density, thickness, color, cavity drawing, and whether the insert sits in a color box or rigid gift box. Density drives both protection and odor/cost. Approve a CNC or molded sample before bulk knives.
What belongs on a cushioning RFQ?
Product weight/fragility, pack drawing, material family, density or film grade, drop or vibration target, monthly volume, and kitting notes. Ask for a packed-out sample, not loose foam sheets.
