What Is Cell Size in Honeycomb Packaging Panels?

How cell size changes performance
Smaller cells often improve local support and print/abrasion behavior under a facing; larger cells can reduce weight but may telegraph or crush differently under point loads. Actual results still depend on paper grade and adhesives.
Why photos mislead
Two panels of equal thickness can feel similar in hand yet perform differently in compression if cell size and facing differ. Require the mill/plant grade sheet.
How to specify it
State nominal cell size, thickness tolerance, facing grade, and the load orientation. For separators, also state whether raw core or faced panels are required.
Validate on the job
Test the finished pack with product contact, not only bare panel crush. Cell collapse against glossy ceramics can scuff even when overall compression looks acceptable.
