Comparison
PET Strapping vs PP Strapping for Packaging Loads
Compare PET and PP strapping for pallet and carton loads: strength, elongation, machine fit, cost, and when buyers should specify each grade from China suppliers.
Quick answer
Choose PP strapping for many light-to-medium packaging unit loads; choose PET when higher retained tension and heavier industrial loads demand it. Do not swap polymers on an automatic strapper without a feed and seal trial.
Performance differences
PET typically offers higher strength and better tension retention on heavy loads. PP is lighter, often cheaper, and common on hand tools and lighter carton pallets. Elongation and recovery differ—load settlement behavior changes.
Machine compatibility
Heat-seal and friction-weld systems are tuned to strap type. Emboss, stiffness, and camber affect feeding. State strapper model on the RFQ.
System view
Pair either strap with edge boards where corners cut straps, and with stretch wrap for containment. Polymer choice does not replace a load plan.
Selection rule
1) Define load weight and transit. 2) Confirm tool/machine class. 3) Trial seal strength. 4) Lock width/thickness/break strength on the PO.
