How to Source Shrink Film from China
Buyer guide to shrink film from China: PE vs POF, gauge, shrink ratio, machine vs heat-gun use, pack presentation, and RFQ specs for logistics and retail packaging.
Quick answer
Source shrink film by locking polymer family (often PE or POF), gauge, shrink ratio, clarity, and whether you run a heat tunnel, heat gun, or shrink wrapper—not by buying the cheapest micron label. Shrink film is not stretch wrap; keep RFQs separate.
Where shrink film is used
Bundling multipacks, protecting printed cartons, and some retail multipacks needing tight skin presentation. Stretch film unitizes pallets without heat; shrink film needs controlled heat to contract. Mixing the two wastes sampling time.
Material families
POF is common for retail clarity and lower gauge multipacks; PE shrink appears on many industrial/bundling jobs. Ask for sealability, puncture, and odor notes for food-adjacent packs. Recycled content options exist—require documented % if you claim it.
Machine and process fit
State tunnel type/temperature window, L-bar or side-seal equipment, or manual heat-gun use. Film that seals cleanly on one machine may burn or under-shrink on another. Approve samples on your line.
Gauge, yield, and presentation
Balance clarity, stiffness, and cost. Over-gauging hides weak process settings; under-gauging causes dog-ears and tears. Define print/registration needs if using printed shrink sleeves vs plain bundling film—this guide focuses on bundling/wrap film, not full sleeve labeling systems.
