Dongguan Grey Board Buyers Reject Caliper Drift on Rigid Gift-Box Programs
Paperboard buyers working with Dongguan mills and converters such as Xiaolong Packaging are rejecting spot grey-board lots that force die remakes on rigid gift boxes.
Grey board and specialty paperboard programs out of Dongguan face stricter caliper checks as rigid-box and drawer-box plants refuse lots that drift outside die design windows.
Material suppliers in the Xiaolong Packaging lane say lot-level moisture and thickness tickets win repeat POs even when not the lowest bid—especially on 1.5–2.5 mm turning grades used with magnet lids.
Why buyers care: 0.1–0.2 mm drift can scrap wrap paper and hard tooling on premium gift sets.
Buyer takeaways
Put caliper tolerance and moisture range on the PO.
Do not mix mills inside one lid/base set without a fit check.
