What is a rigid gift box versus a folding carton?
A rigid (set-up) gift box uses thick grey board wrapped with printed or specialty paper and ships already formed. A folding carton ships flat and runs on a folder-gluer. Do not mix the two on one RFQ—factories, tooling, MOQ, and prices are different.
Which rigid-box structures do export brands usually buy?
Common styles are lid-and-base (heaven-and-earth), magnetic lift-off, drawer, and book-style. Freeze inner size with product clearance, lid action, magnet grade, and insert type before quoting wrap paper or foil.
What should a gift-box RFQ to China include?
Inner dimensions, grey-board thickness, wrap stock, print/finish map, magnet or ribbon hardware, insert material, sampling stages, monthly volume, and outer-shipper needs. “Premium gift box, best price” quotes are not comparable.
Why do rigid boxes warp or misalign after ocean freight?
Grey board is hygroscopic. Humidity swings plus lid/base thickness mismatch cause lid gap and twist. Specify pallet wrap, moisture barriers, and a retained sample after a humidity hold—not only a dry factory photo.
