Verify a packaging tape supplier by confirming coating and slitting capability, adhesive system control, roll consistency, and trials on your carton board and equipment. A glossy catalog roll does not prove lot-to-lot peel and unwind.
Confirm what they make
Ask whether they coat adhesive in-house, buy jumbo rolls, or only slit and brand. Capability differs sharply across BOPP, water-activated, and filament constructions.
Audit specifications
Require backing thickness, adhesive type/coat weight, adhesion and tensile methods, noise grade if relevant, and core/ID standards. Reject vague “industrial strong tape” claims.
Inspect roll quality
Check telescoping, edge clean, unwind force, splice rules, and carton packing. Roll defects become pack-line stoppages before the first carton leaves the station.
Run application trials
Trial on production cartons with your dispensers or case sealers. Freeze approved SKUs and ban silent adhesive or backing swaps.
