Printed Manual and Catalog Spec Checklist for Export Brands
Export-brand checklist for printed manuals and catalogs from China: paper grade, binding, color, finishing, packing, compliance inserts, and RFQ fields for instruction and brochure programs.
Quick answer
A usable manual or catalog specification locks paper grade, page count, binding, color targets, finishing, trim size, and export packing. Artwork alone does not define fold endurance, barcode readability, or carton counts for kits.
Define the document job
Separate safety instructions, multilingual manuals, retail catalogs, and dealer brochures. Each may need different paper, binding, and regulatory text control.
Lock paper and format
State trim size, page count, text/cover GSM, opacity needs, and whether recycled or coated stocks are required. Thin manuals that show through print create support complaints.
Specify binding and durability
Saddle stitch, perfect bind, spiral, or folded leaflets behave differently in kits and after repeated use. Require fold/crack checks on coated covers and confirm staple or glue quality on production samples.
Control color and finishing
Provide Pantone or approved proofs, coating/laminate needs, and any spot UV or foil. Soft-touch or heavy coatings can scuff in kit assembly—test with the real carton and insert process.
Plan kit packing
State manuals per carton, bagging, desiccant needs, language version segregation, and whether manuals ship bulk or pre-inserted. Mis-mixed language versions are a costly field failure.
RFQ
