How to Spec Shrink Sleeve Registration for Beverage Labels
Buyer guide to shrink sleeve registration for beverage labels: layflat, shrink curve, seam, print registration, applicator, and RFQ fields for China sleeve converters.
Quick answer
Specify shrink sleeves by container geometry, film type, layflat, shrink curve, seam placement, and print registration tolerances—not by a flat artwork PDF alone. Registration failures usually appear after heat tunnels, not on the press proof.
Capture the container
Provide bottle/can drawings, material, fill temperature if relevant, and photos of shoulders or tapered zones. Complex curves need different shrink films and print distortion compensation.
Lock film and seam
State film grade, thickness, layflat, and vertical/horizontal seam preference. Confirm whether the sleeve is full-body or partial and how perforation or tear strips are placed.
Define registration
Set horizontal/vertical registration tolerances, keyline to seam rules, and barcode/QR readability after shrink. Approve a shrunk sample on the real container.
Match the applicator
Share applicator brand/speed or line photos. Sleeve cut length and roundness tolerances must match packing-line realities.
RFQ
