Export Pallet Stretch-Wrap Spec Checklist
Export-pallet checklist for stretch-wrap specs: film gauge, pre-stretch, wrap pattern, containment, corner boards, climate, and RFQ fields for stable container loads.
Quick answer
A usable export stretch-wrap spec freezes film type, pre-stretch, wrap pattern, containment target, and corner protection. “Wrap tightly” is not a specification and will not survive handoffs between factory, warehouse, and forwarder.
Define the load
Record pallet footprint, height, weight, carton overhang risk, and whether the load is double-stacked in the container. Unstable mixed pallets need different patterns than uniform cases.
Lock film and machine settings
State hand vs machine film, gauge or yield, target pre-stretch, and number of turns for top, body, and base. Keep a settings card with the approved trial pallet.
Add mechanical aids where needed
Specify edge boards, top sheets, or anti-slip sheets when wrap alone cannot stop lean or strap bite. Wrap and strapping should be designed together.
Check climate and dwell
Cold rooms, condensation, and long yard dwell change film behavior. Trial wrap under the harshest realistic condition on the lane.
Photo-freeze pack-out
Require side and top photos of the approved wrapped pallet, including label visibility and fork entry clearance.
