FOB / CFR / CIF Calculator

Split goods, origin costs, ocean freight and insurance for one sea shipment. Margin applies to FOB only.

What this covers

Enter the whole batch in one currency.
Sales margin is applied only to the FOB portion.
Freight and insurance are passed through at cost.

FOB, CFR and CIF apply to sea or inland waterway transport. Goods and origin costs cover the whole batch, and margin is added only to FOB: FOB = (goods + origin costs) / (1 − margin); CFR = FOB + ocean freight; CIF = CFR / (1 − premium rate × insured-value share). Freight and insurance are passed through with no extra margin. Risk generally transfers when the goods are on board at the port of shipment; paying freight to the destination does not move that point. Name the port of shipment for FOB, or the port of destination for CFR/CIF, and state Incoterms® 2020. Containerized cargo should also be checked against FCA, CPT and CIP. Destination unloading, import duty and import clearance are outside this model. CIF normally calls for cover of at least 110% of the contract value; a lower share departs from that default and needs a separate agreement. This calculator does not convert currencies or look up live freight rates.
